We are all bananas mental health awareness Campaign Illustration

I recently created this hat illustration in support of the #weRallbananas mental health campaign to encourage young people to talk openly about their problems. It is a great campaign that I just could not ignore because I strongly believe it is time to break the stigma that is associated with mental health, especially for young people when they are feeling vulnerable.

You too can get involved by posting selfie holding a banana (or two!) with your own advice written on it. You can then post it to your chosen social media using the hashtag #weRallbananas. The hashtag will also put you in touch with other banana selfie pieces of advice and amusing photos. Like the Ice Bucket challenge, you can also nominate friends to get involved. If you’re feeling creative as I was, you are also welcomed to post a doodle, a sketch or a creation.

If you would like to donate to the campaign you can text ‘MSMD10 £2’ to 70070 and you can find the website here.

The Libertarian is all for the breaking down of boundaries through the mediums of art and design. If you decide to rise to the challenge and get involved, I would love to see what you come up with!

And the Winner is...

This summer a good friend of mine celebrated his Birthday with a huge ball in aid of the Samaritans charity. I made this large brimmed black hat especially to donate as a raffle prize.

I was a little nervous that a 'non hat lover' would win it and it would stay in its box forever, but luckily it went to an ecstatic new owner; Karen!

Karen told me that she doesn't usually wear hats but as soon as she saw it on the prize table she knew that it was the prize she wanted to win. She was extremely happy when her lucky ticket was chosen. She now plans to take a trip to the races to wear her new hat.

I hope you enjoy wearing your new hat Karen!
